It’s back, hacks and hackers! The Open Knowledge Foundation’s Open Data Day this year will be on March 7th, and if you’re interested in organizing an open data-related event in your area, you can apply for a mini-grant of up to $300 to help with funds. The deadline to apply is tonight.

Also, registration for MisinfoCon @ NASEM is full, but we will be live streaming it here. More details to come soon.

Worth a read:

  • GIJN compiled some of their most popular How-Tos for investigative reporting, including guides on extracting data from PDFs, using Tweetdeck for investigations and building gifs from satellite imagery (GIJN)
  • Thanks to the R Foundation’s task force for supporting underrepresented groups in the R community, there will be events across Southern Africa this spring to teach people how to use R for data analysis (R-Bloggers)
  • Publications like Le Monde and The Guardian have grown their digital audiences by producing fewer, but more substantial, articles (Digiday)
